Multifaceted artist, producer and vocalist , ILĀ’s work traverses ethereal non-binary vocal timbre, dense sonic textures, pioneering AI production tools and quantum computer music. Their practice explores fluidity from personal identity to socio-economic systems, focusing on physics, philosophy, and technology. ILĀ’s upcoming short film murmur is a collaboration with robot artist Ai-Da, Imogen Heap, Guy Sigsworth, BISHI and Portrait XO created using pioneering AI tools.
ILĀ’s most recent work includes UN/BOUND, an interactive holographic sound installation piece created in collaboration with TRANS VOICES and MONOM which is part of The Barbican (London)’s Feel the Sound immersive exhibition. The installation merges choral voices with pioneering tone transfer by Neutone and quantum computing tools by MOTH - revealing the voice as a means of true expression, illuminating new spaces of belonging and collective resonance, where deep listening becomes a catalyst for change.
ILĀ has performed globally, including alongside Turner Prize 2023 winner Jesse Darling’s MISERERE, and on projects like Loomaland's Robot Swans, Kindred VR, the European Space Agency, and Little Amal - The Walk Productions & Handspring Puppet Company. ILĀ sits on the Ivors Academy Future Sound Experience Council, is a member of Earth/Percent Music Committee, a Redcliffe Advisory ambassador and a research partner (AI & Music) at University of Sheffield. They have recently performed at the World Economic Forum and TedTalk (Countdown Summit) alongside Reeps One as well as presenting work at Silencio (Paris) Puzzle X (Barcelona), University of Oxford and Harvard University in collaboration with MOTH. As co-founder/director of legendary choir London Contemporary Voices, ILĀ has worked with over 25 Grammy winning artists including Florence and the Machine, Imogen Heap and U2 as well as BBC Proms and fashion shows for designers such as Burberry and Tommy Hilfiger. In 2022, they co-founded TRANS VOICES, the U.K.'s first professional trans+ choir.
