Description

TRANS VOICES is the UK’s first professional trans+ vocal collective, blending meditative soundscapes and bold vocal expressions to reclaim spaces where trans perspectives are rarely heard. Founded by Ilā Kamalagharan and Coda Nicolaeff as part of the London Contemporary Voices family, the collective is known for its innovative approach to choral music celebrating the unique qualities of trans voices.

Prominent commercial and artistic partnerships of the collective include Absolut’s award-winning #borntomix campaign with Olly Alexander, the Roundhouse's Beyond and Between season alongside Jean Paul Gaultier’s Fashion Freak Show, and a specially commissioned Guardian documentary. TRANS VOICES has also delivered bespoke performances at Tate Britain, Kew Gardens, and amid Turner Prize winner Jesse Darling’s Miserere.

The collective is currently featured in the Barbican’s flagship summer exhibition Feel the Sound with UN/BOUND (TRANS VOICES, ILĀ, and MONOM), an immersive sound installation shaped by quantum technology and artificial intelligence that questions what is sacrificed and what is reclaimed in the pursuit of liberation and self-determination.
