Speedy Wunderground has championed up-and-coming, alternative artists since the label started in 2013. Based around Dan Carey’s Streatham studio and local venues such as Windmill Brixton, the label has evolved at a staggering pace, garnering numerous accolades such as ‘Best Small Label’ at the AIM awards and ‘UK Producer of The Year’ at the Music Producer Guild Awards for Carey, who has been called “One of, if not the most pivotal figure in a movement that feels genuinely generation-defining”. The label has gained cult status - with The Quietus effusing: “The label has become genuinely prestigious. It is not ridiculous to wonder whether one day it will be looked back upon with the same reverence as labels like Factory, Sarah, Zoo or Creation receive today.” Aside from its legendary single-series, Speedy has released EPs and albums from bands such as Squid, Honeyglaze and Heartworms. We’re passionate about putting out some of the freshest new music in the country, and having a genuine impact on the landscape of UK music. All you need to do is look back at some of the names that have been involved already: Black Country, New Road, Loyle Carner, black midi, Kae Tempest… the list goes on.
