Simon Bachmann is the Co-Founder and CEO of IDUN Technologies, a Swiss neurotechnology startup at the forefront of making brain information accessible and actionable. With a background in health sciences from ETH Zurich, Simon developed a passion for preventative health and neuroscience during his time researching stretchable electronics. His work on skin- conformal electrodes with the Biosensors and Bioelectronics Group at ETH laid the foundation for IDUN’s patented technology, enabling high-quality brain-sensing in everyday applications. This groundbreaking research evolved into a startup opportunity, where Simon applied his expertise to develop brain-sensing headphones. A significant milestone came in 2019, when IDUN Technologies secured investment from Sony, underscoring the growing recognition of hearables as a future health platform. The team at IDUN recognized that earbuds, already an integral part of daily life, could be transformed into a powerful interface for brain-computer interactions (BCIs). Over the past 7+ years, Simon has gained extensive experience leading multi-disciplinary teams, crafting go-to-market strategies, and raising multiple funding rounds. Under his leadership, IDUN Technologies developed the IDUN Guardian, brain-sensing earbuds that provide actionable insights in areas like sleep, mental health, and productivity.
