Sharon Horgan is a multi-BAFTA award-winning actress, writer, producer, director, and founder of Merman. She is best known as the creator, co-writer, executive producer and star of the critically acclaimed BAD SISTERS, which has earned multiple BAFTAs, Emmy nominations, and international awards.
Horgan also co-created the hit comedy MOTHERLAND, and executive produces its spin-off AMANDALAND. Most recently Sharon has executive produced VLADIMIR for Netflix starring Rachel Weisz and Leo Woodall, and starred in THE TWISTED TALE OF AMANDA KNOX for Disney+ and BEST INTERESTS, for which she received BAFTA and IFTA nominations.
Sharon has several exciting projects on the horizon – she recently signed a two-year first-look with the award winning global studio HBO kickstarting with original comedy series YOUTH, written and executive produced by Sharon who will also lead the series as a 50-year-old divorcee in a search for sex and love whilst juggling caring for her ailing parents and parenting her should-be grown up son.
Her earlier credits include co-creating and starring in CATASTROPHE, which won a BAFTA for Best Writing: Comedy, as well as roles in GAME NIGHT, MILITARY WIVES, and THIS WAY UP. Through Merman, she continues to develop award-winning television and film, with several new projects in development for several major streamers.
Sharon has also starred in THE UNBEARABLE WEIGHT OF MASSIVE TALENT opposite Nicholas Cage; MILITARY WIVES opposite Kristin Scott Thomas and TOGETHER, which won Best Single Drama at the 2022 BAFTA TV Awards.
