Description

Richard Price aka Rich SCR aka Vinyl Richie is a broadcaster, curator, artist and entrepreneur of British-Thai origin based in Seoul, Korea.

As a Londoner and founder of Seoul Community Radio back in 2016 he has been a central figure in pioneering a spirit of UK pirate radio in Korea and across Asia in the last decade, helping to kickstart a boom of like-minded ‘(insert city name) community radio’ stations across the region and linking them together with collective initiatives and knowledge-sharing. Now approaching its 10th year in its second iconic studio based in Itaewon, SCR has helped platform some of Korea’s most ubiquitous and talented musicians as well as continuing to foster new talent, hosting cutting-edge music events and creating culturally resonant community moments that aim to bring new local audiences towards the K-underground.

With a deep love for all things radio he is also an archivist and futurist around the broadcast form, creating visual installations and photo exhibitions such as ‘Frequency Tropics Radio’ (Seoul Museum of Art: SeMA) and ‘Original Pirate Material’ (with Rinse FM) which look at the past, present and future of radio in a shifting world. His DJ sets encompass much of this spirit, celebrating the rich diversity of ‘tape pack’ sounds old and new, from jungle, breaks, UK garage, raw forms of house, dub and techno and other forgotten curios.
