As the VP, Platforms at Pinterest, MatthiasZenger is responsible for Pinterest’s technical infrastructure and the foundational engineering platforms and developer tools used across Pinterest. Matthias is a seasoned engineering leader with 25 years of experience in the area of large distributed systems, search and ads technologies, as well as e-commerce. Prior to joining Pinterest in April 2025, he spent more than 20 years at Google in Zurich, working mostly in the ads and commerce space. He led the development of Google’s merchant-facing applications and the core platforms powering Google’s shopping experiences and its Product Listing Ads business. Prior to Google, he earned his PhD from the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL), where he contributed to the foundations of the Scala programming language.
