Animal Think Tank

Mark grew up on an animal farm, then founded Animal Think Tank. As a child, he watched animals with his dad and sister play, mourn, socialise, and even do politics. Seeing them behave just like us led him to believe all animals deserve freedom.

He is Welsh and inspired by Wales's two global firsts: the Future Generations Act and the Children Act. Both gave these groups a voice in politics. There are far more farmed animals in the UK than there are people - for balance, should they have a voice in politics too? Mark's work focuses on achieving this.

He has been a volunteer for 25+ years in the environmental, gay, and housing movements. Professionally, he worked as a management consultant specialising in the delivery of national infrastructure projects. He was also an associate professor in Management Science at Lancaster University for 15 years. In his spare time, he enjoys fell running, winter mountaineering, cooking, good wine and cosy pubs.
