WILDES is the musical project of singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Ella Walker. She found meteoric success with her 2016 debut single “Bare”, paining a haunting landscape, adding touches of darkness, elevating the light to high places, where her voice cast a long, unforgettable shadow. In its wake, she released two highly acclaimed EPs, Let You Go and Illuminate, which won the West London artist over 60 million streams to date, where she would be mentioned in the same breath as London Grammar, Mazzy Star and PJ Harvey.
Her sound became ubiquitous: she earned global radio favour from the likes of BBC Radio 1 and 6 Music all the way to Californian station KCRW and Berlin’s Radio Eins, with her tracks featuring on notable US TV shows including Suits. Walker’s reimagining of “Don’t Think Twice, It’s All Right” even caught the attention of Bob Dylan himself, who passed on his compliments and personally invited her to his show. The gap between her teenage dreams and her reality was ever narrowing.
Her 2024 EP 'Subsidence' found Walker going back to her roots, self-producing and recording the entire project from her flat in Dalston, recruiting frequent collaborator Matt Wiggins (Adele, Florence and the Machine) to mix the EP. This was followed by her 2025 Kopfkino EP, made with with collaborator St Francis Hotel. The pair delve into the mind's captivating power, exploring the spectrum of human experience from poignant introspection to exhilarating escapism, sonically noting the influence of 80s synth-pop bands such as Erasure, The Human League, and Depeche Mode, as well as trip-hop artists like Massive Attack and Portishead. WILDES' music draws in glowing praise from NME, Uncut, Evening Standard, NPR, Notion Magazine, The Line Of Best Fit, KEXP and more.
