Rooted in natural soundscapes and highlighting the fragility of the environment, violinist and singer Violeta Vicci feels at home in England, Switzerland and Spain. Hailed by the Strad Magazine as a ‘unique and imaginative performer’ she has collaborated with artists like Thom Yorke, Clint Mansell, Elbow, Fontaines DC, Jonny Greenwood and Bat For Lashes. Having started the violin at just four years old, Violeta gave her concert debut aged fifteen. She then moved to London to study at the Royal Academy of Music and has released three studio albums to date.
Violeta has toured the UK with her live show, which consists of layered strings, vocals, field recordings and immersive nature visuals. Joining her on stage is long term collaborator Roger Goula on electronics and modular synthesisers. Violeta has opened for The Orb’s, Marconi Union, System7 and her music, praised as ‘beautiful and powerful’ on BBC Radio3, has received extensive radio play worldwide. She has performed at venues such as The Royal Albert Hall, Paris Philharmonie and festivals like British Summer Time and Glastonbury.
For her album Cavaglia she took to translating a pristine Swiss valley and its surrounding lakes and glaciers, into music, and this year saw the release of Forest Music, created as an imagined journey into nature, away from the city, and into the greenness of the forest.
