Lesley O'Brien (Independent Label + Artist Transparency)

Lesley O'Brien is the director of Lockjaw Records, an independent UK punk and hardcore label, and founder of Onslaught Music, a music services company covering areas from management to publishing. With over a decade in independent music, she works across A&R, label operations, financial management and marketing, helping artists build sustainable careers without compromising their independence.

Lesley is an advocate for transparency and fairness in the music industry, with a particular focus on making the business side less opaque for emerging artists. Her approach is practical and community-minded, rooted in the belief that independent music works best when people share what they know.

Information for mentees:

  • Please arrive 5 minutes early to check in for your mentor session. Late arrivals (anyone not present at the start of their booked session) may lose their slot to a walk-up attendee.
  • If a session is fully booked, you’re welcome to try as a walk-up in case a booked attendee doesn’t attend.
  • We would recommend preparing a brief introduction about yourself, along with any specific questions or areas you’d like guidance on from your mentor.
