Mentor Session: Scaling Your DIY or Community Events
Who I am Laurence Walker is a music programmer and promoter originally from Bristol, now based in London, working primarily in the DIY and grassroots space. He is currently the programmer at Colour Factory and a curator for festivals including Glastonbury, Show of Hands and more.
Laurence hasover a decade of booking and promotion experience, working across club shows and festival stages, with a focus on jazz, club sounds, and global music. His work has seen him support many young promoters and collectives to scale their events.
What to ask me about Booking and artist relations, building and developing a curatorial vision, programming lineups, venue relationships, growing and engaging an audience, budgeting, logistics, and how to build the networks and relationships that make grassroots events sustainable long-term.
