Filming the Unheard: Voice, Power, and the Politics of Representation in Cinema

Earlier this year, Tunisian director Kaouther Ben Hania made history as the first Arab woman to earn three Oscar nominations. Her most recent nod came through devastating docudrama The Voice of Hind Rajab, which uses real-life voice recordings of the titular 6-year-old girl killed during the war in Gaza. In this panel, Ben Hania is joined by The Voice of Hind Rajab producer Nadim Cheikroutha to discuss the increasing importance of platforming unheard voices in cinema and the political power of representation.
