With a return of climate scepticism as an accepted attitude and opinion, there is a significant danger of the solutions we already have to the climate challenges we face being lost or ignored. It has never been more challenging, and never so important, to effectively communicate the solutions to the climate crisis as funding and support for climate solutions slows and, in some cases, disappears. In the current geo-political landscape, there is an increasing need to change the narrative and language around climate to speak more about “efficiency and competitiveness”, rather than sustainability. In the US, we can see that Republicans are comfortable to speak about clean air, clean water and waste management – as long as you don’t mention the words climate crisis or sustainability.
