Nick Keynes

Co-founder, Tileyard

Nick Keynes is MD and co-founder of the Tileyard Group including Tileyard London and Tileyard North.

Tileyard London is the largest creative community in the world, housing over 250 creative industries companies and individuals including Apple Radio, Platoon, Noel Gallagher, F1 Arcade, Spitfire Audio, Two Tribes Brewery, Sound Advice, Sigala, Fuga, Gearbox Records, Liam Howlett, Rob Swire, Focusrite, SoundCloud ...and many more!

As well as being responsible for the on-site resident curation Keynes plays an instrumental role in the management and strategy of all Tileyard Group companies, including Tileyard London, Tileyard North, Tileyard Music and Tileyard Education.

Following the success of Tileyard’s flagship site in London, Keynes led the curation, build, strategy and direction of Tileyard North, the new creative destination in Wakefield in the north of England.

Now firmly transitioned into the world of property management/development and place-making Keynes had previously spent over 20 years in the music business, initially as bass player in the 1990’s UK pop-band ‘Ultra’. Following a number of worldwide hit singles, he went on to set up production company ‘Goldust’ with fellow Tileyard co-founder Michael Harwood. During this period the duo wrote - and produced - for a number of artists including Bryan Adams, Kylie Minogue, Natasha Bedingfield and Liberty X. They also composed music for movies with title tracks on the Andy García movie Modigliani and The Magic Roundabout. In the mid 2000s Goldust caught the eye of City & Provincial Properties (CPP) owner Paul Kempe and together Kempe, Keynes and Harwood went on to envisage, create and build what is now the Tileyard group of businesses.

Tileyard London launched in 2011 with 10 bespoke-built music studios for artists, producers, writers and composers and has grown to over 120 such spaces all located within their King’s Cross campus. These creative spaces, combined with 150k sq ft of flexible business workspace, has enabled Tileyard to become a globally recognised brand in its own right and has opened up opportunities to look at building similar creative communities in the US, Singapore and Europe.
