Julian Brimmers

Julian Brimmers is an author, culture journalist and filmmaker from Cologne, Germany. His writing has appeared in publications such as The Paris Review, ZEIT, Spiegel Online, The Creative Independent and Crack Magazine. From 2011 to 2018, he was a staff editor at the Red Bull Music Academy. Brimmers was the host and co-author of the podcast “Trauma Loveparade”, which won the German Podcast Award in 2021. As an editor and translator, he has worked on books by Ta-Nehisi Coates, John Wray and the New York Times’ “1619 Project”, among others. His German translation “MF DOOM – Chroniken einer Hip-Hop-Ikone” was published in 2025. He has written and directed two feature-length music documentaries, “We Almost Lost Bochum” (2020) and “Evil-E – Eva Ries und der Wu-Tang Clan” (2025).
