Sofia Monroy is a Mexican-Swedish artist born April 20, 1999, in Mexico City. For her first two years, she lived in a small rooftop room with her father, originally from Tapachula, Chiapas, and her mother, originally from Luleå, Sweden. When she was two, Sofia and her parents decided to move to her mother's native country.
At age 15, Sofia decided to participate in Swedish IDOL. Sofia signed with Universal Music Mexico shortly after a visit to the country in 2022, which led her to make the decision to move there, starting from scratch. This sparked a profound exploration of both her music and culture. Two years later, Sofia released her debut album, Morena; an album as personal, vulnerable, transparent, and eclectic as she is: a love letter to her roots and the two worlds that live within her. Sofia has recently opened for major Mexican artists such as Jay de la Cueva in 2024, and in 2025 she performed three sold-out shows for Zayn (formerly of One Direction) at the Palacio de los Deportes in Mexico City, playing for over 50,000 fans.
At 26, Sofia is poised to become the next big international artist, having been named an Artist To Watch 2026 by two international platforms: Amazon Music and Premios Lo Nuestro (Univision). Now she's embarking on a new musical era, releasing her new single "Pegadito," paving the way for what promises to be a life-changing 2026.
