Flow by Adrian Utley & Hans-Martin Buff

Flow is a groundbreaking 360° spatial music composition. It is a 30-minute journey in sound: an orchestra of guitars, voices, four double basses, electronic oscillators, and field recordings from Iceland.

Created by Adrian Utley, the guitarist and sonic architect of Portishead, and produced by Grammy Award-winning engineer Hans-Martin Buff, the piece pushes the boundaries of immersive composition. Flow was recorded at the world-renowned Real World Studios in Box, Wiltshire.

“I think creating this project Flow has changed how I feel about making music.” – Adrian Utley

Flow was funded by UKRI’s ‘Strength in Places’ project MyWorld in the West of England with support from Digital Catapult and research led by Dr Ruth Farrar from Bath Spa University in collaboration with Dr Felix Carter from the University of Bristol and Theo Kozlowski from the University of Bath.
