Shorts: Protests Will Not Be Tolerated

Where control is constant, rebellion slips through, and frustration and truth push back against systems of control.

Across (and below) streets, borders, and households, the films in PROTEST WILL NOT BE TOLERATED trace acts of quiet defiance under pressure; from whispered rumours and bureaucratic barriers, to forbidden voices and everyday risks, each story reveals how control is enforced, and how it’s subtly resisted. Moments of play, hunger, curiosity and connection become gestures of rebellion, whether against state power, social expectation, or inherited silence. In worlds where protest is not permitted, resistance takes other forms: intimate, absurd, fragile, and persistent. Here, protest is not as expected, instead everything hums with an uncontainable resistance.
