Late one night, the fairly quiet, comfortable life led by literature teacher Akam is turned upside down when his estranged uncle from the Iranian part of Kurdistan knocks on his door without warning. Despite sharing his apartment with two flatmates and having only a modest single bed, Akam takes the old man in, the originally brief visit turning into a much longer, more inconvenient stay as Akam begins to unravel the secrets behind his uncle’s resurgence. My Uncle Jens is a sensitive meditation on displacement that will have you belly laughing one second, fetching tissues the other.
