Sonya Trivedy is Executive Director of External Engagement at Samaritans, the charity that prevents suicide through the power of human connection. Samaritans provides an emotional support service 24/7, 365 days a year and answers a call for help every 10 seconds.

Sonya has been in the UK voluntary sector for over 25 years. She has worked in both international development for organisations such as British Red Cross and UNICEF and for domestic causes including HIV and sexual health, and work to end domestic violence. Sonya is a trustee of the Cystic Fibrosis Trust.

Sonya is responsible for Samaritans’ external communications, income generation and influencing work. Sonya and her team worked closely with the Premier League to develop Together Against Suicide, which aims to reduce stigma, raise awareness, and provide direct support to fans within the football community. The campaign has now been adopted by the UK Government in the Men’s Health Strategy.

Sonya and her team are responsible for one of the UK’s most trusted charity brands, ensuring that everyone across the UK and Ireland know there is a place for them to turn if they are struggling to cope.
