The male loneliness epidemic has been a key topic of discussion and concern for the past few years. And for good reason. Nearly 1 in 4 young men (15-34) report frequent loneliness, and men are 3.6 times more likely to die by suicide than women.
As YouTube, TikTok, Instagram, Snap and more play active and everyday roles in the lives of young men, some of the content on these social platforms is undoubtedly contributing to the increasing loneliness, anxiety and depression among that same demographic.
So Movember, the leading charity in men’s health, set out to speak directly to these young men rather than just speaking about them. How? By meeting them where they are.
In this session, Becca Hutson Editor-in-chief of The News Movement will sit down with Tom Ellis from Movember and content creator Olly Bowman to discuss how they’re working together to offer young men an online space that is judgment-free while discussing the real and relatable struggles they face every day.
