Carleen Anderson, an acclaimed Singer/Songwriter, US American born/UK Resident Music Artist, moved to England with her son in 1990 to begin her commercial career with the music group the Young Disciples as their vocalist, composer, music arranger and recording artist. In 2013, after six internationally acclaimed solo albums and a multitude of collaborations, Carleen focused on developing her vision to create a dramatic music theatre storytelling genre she classifies as Blended-roots Opera. The many supporters of this work include grants awarded by Arts Council England in 2014, 2020, and 2021, a PRSF Women Make Music Grant in 2015, studio recorded and live performance production support from Falmouth University’s AMATA and Hall for Cornwall from 2015 to 2022, plus several globally celebrated artist endorsements.
Conceived, written, composed and performed by Carleen Anderson, MELIOR Opus Griot is a traditionally formatted Opera that blends Gospel, Soul, Jazz and Classical music with digital soundscapes, visual arts, a Mass Choir, and an eclectic Chamber Music ensemble with aims to provide a platform for established and emerging theatre storytelling artists to expand their creative modes of futuristic expressions.
In addition to her live vocal presentations at the Classical Music Conference section of London's SXSW Premiere 2025, Bill Bankes-Jones, founder of Têtê -á- Têtê Opera Festival will join Carleen to discuss her showcase goals and objectives for a fresh approach to music theatre.
