Description

Balter are an exciting four-piece from Northampton, making anthemic, jangle-pop that belies their years. Consisting of Tom Drury (vocals/guitar), Jake Lewis (guitar), Liam Kay (bass) and Jack Cox (drums), the band have only just sat their GCSEs, which is even more surprising to anyone who has caught the band at one of their early, buzzy, packed-out shows. The band spent summer of 2024 bubbling away in the studio with producer, Jonathan Hucks (Hallan, Dream Nails) and released their debut single, 'someone new' in February, with their second single, 'someday' due out on April 4th.

Imagine Aztec Camera being bottled up in 2025, amongst a flurry of youthful exuberance and shimmering guitars and you’d get somewhere close to the Balter sound. This is a band focused on what they want to do, where they want to be in the future and how they are going to get there. Citing the likes of Mac DeMarco and Boy Pablo as inspiration, the breadth of Balters’ influences are clear to hear but never detract from their own unique identity and innate song writing ability. With early support already from BBC Introducing and support slots with Alfie Templeman, Courting and The Bluetones under their belts, the potential Balter have is unnervingly big – the future could well be theirs.

“Northampton indie outfit Balter are quietly making a name for themselves as an exciting emerging presence within the UK music scene, boasting a dreamy, indie rock sound that glistens with a summery sheen and laid-back attitude. Still just teenagers, the band could have a world of potential, and the sense of poise and charisma that already radiates through their sound implies that this track might just be a glance at what Balter are capable of.” - CLOUT

“This band are the future - they are young and exciting. Their music really is something special” - Kerrie Cosh (BBC Introducing)
