Behind the Music Hailing from the Portsmouth area, Baby Said are made up of Italian/Punjabi sisters Veronica (20) and Jess (18) Pal
Veronica first picked up the acoustic guitar at the age of 6, inspired by a band of guitarists she saw at church. She pursued her passion for music by completing all her guitar exams up to grade 8, transitioning from classical guitar to electric guitar. Jess, on the other hand, started playing acoustic guitar at the age of 4, often playing alongside her sister. After experimenting with keyboards and piano, Jess was drawn to the bass guitar after watching the live performance of Måneskin at Sanremo in 2021
Their journey as Baby Said was ignited after a summer of busking in 2021, and after their talents were quickly recognised, they were invited to play in local venues, leading to the birth of their covers band Astro Moda. In just two years, they have performed at over 250 gigs all over the country, building their confidence and skills to pursue their goal of writing, recording, and releasing their own original music. In March 2023 Baby Said partnered with Big Hug Management, and with this new collaboration the sisters chose the name "Baby Said" inspired by the song 'Baby Said' by their favourite band, Måneskin.

The Album Recording Process
Baby Said decided to record their album with Patch Boshell and Steven Battelle as they had already written three songs with them - Mean Girlz, Dead to Me and Hate Me - they knew they understood their vision. Recorded over a few months, they did live drums, bass and some guitars at the ‘Puzzle Factory’ and the rest of the guitars and vocals at Patch’s studio, with the aim to maintain the rawness of the rock band they aspire to be. Having almost all the songs brewing for about a year, this made the experience so much more rewarding to hear the recordings to their full potential n intro to our debut album:
‘’We are so excited to share our debut album with the world as we have been playing it live for so long at some amazing festivals, like Reading and Leeds and Victorious, and cool venues, like the Old Blue Last and The Windmill (this is where we did our first gig as Baby Said). We can’t wait for everyone’s reaction and to hopefully have more people discover us, rock out with us and follow our journey’’ Veronica and Jess x
BS. Album about Our album ‘BS’ is about us finding the power in our voice and speaking up. We want the lairy guitars and messages to empower others and inspire them to also speak up about their own experiences and perhaps create connections with new people who may relate.
Track By Track Inspiration/Description ‘Sweet Talk’ ‘’Sweet talk is about waiting on someone who is not worth the wait, that makes you a lot of really nice promises, but you know they’d never follow through- you realise you were just entertaining an idea and don’t need to waste your time.’’
‘Mean Girlz’ ‘’Mean Girlz is about the people in general who shame others for being different. This song is about not being ashamed of our differences and celebrating it as the ‘Mean Girlz’ are boring anyway so thank god we’re no copycats.’’
‘123 ‘ ‘’123’is about a possessive person with the mindset of ‘if i can’t have you, no one else can’’ and in order to keep it that way, they try to control and intervene in any opportunity you have to talk to anyone else. It’s about realising this person is not good, despite others thinking that they are and having the strength to say no.’’
‘Burn’ ‘’Burn is about the struggle of mental health issues. It’s for everyone who feels like they’re alone and who feels like they are not enough. It’s a song of hope to show you there is light at the end of the tunnel. It is based off what others, like my family, have told me but I never believed so I wanted others who are struggling to hear it in case no one has told them.’’
‘Hate Me’ “It’s about facing the negativity and rejection we’ve experienced and channelling that frustration into something powerful. We’re telling the world we’re not going anywhere, no matter what anyone thinks.”
‘Dead to Me’ ‘’Dead to me is about when someone steps over the and feel they have the right to share their opinion on your business. It is also about the impulsivity of wanting to cut people out of your life as soon as they cross the line, without a second thought.’’
‘Take Everything’ ‘’Take Everything is about the feeling of passing through life wearing a grey lens. It’s about feeling like you’re giving your all whilst others are just taking and despite all your effort, whatever you do is never good enough. Take Everything shows the exhaustion of trying for others even though they are abandoning you.’
Baby Said stands poised to captivate the global soundscape, positioning themselves as heralds of a new era in music. Their anthems, infused with a potent message of self-belief and unwavering determination, resonate with the hearts of all who have dared to chase their dreams against the backdrop of adversity.
