Maja Petrić
Artist
Maja Petrić creates immersive installations that use custom-built AI and real environmental data to make the fragility of Earth impossible to ignore. Her work turns technology into a conduit for ecological awareness, giving people a direct, physical experience of how deeply we are connected to the planet and to one another. In a world where climate change is often abstracted into charts and policy, she builds systems that remember, react, and evolve in real time, transforming technology from extraction into a force for restoration and connection. Her installations and sculptures have been featured internationally at Phillips Auction in Hong Kong and London, HOFA Gallery, FOR-SITE Foundation, MadArt Studio, and Farol Santander, and commissioned by organizations including National Geographic, Microsoft, Google, Meta, Korean Air, and Seattle–Tacoma International Airport.
Petrić received the 2025 Digital Art Award for Innovation from Phillips and HOFA for her data-driven light sculpture series Specimens of Time, and the Lumen Prize for Best Immersive Installation for her AI-driven work We Are All Made of Light. The custom interactive systems she develops have also been recognized at major AI research venues including NeurIPS and ICCV, reflecting a practice that advances the technical frontier. She holds a Ph.D. in Digital Arts and Experimental Media from the University of Washington and a Master’s from NYU’s Interactive Telecommunications Program.
