Black Music Industry Meet Up with Power Up
Looking to connect with some of the most exciting Black talent in the music industry today? POWER UP invites you to an unmissable networking meet-up at SXSW London. This is your chance to meet and vibe with a powerhouse collective of Black artists, songwriters, producers, composers, managers, A&Rs, lawyers, marketers, booking agents, and more all in one place. Whether you're a creative, an executive, or somewhere in between, this hour is about building meaningful connections, sparking new collaborations and building a new table that all are invited to sit at.
POWER UP has supported over 200 exceptional Black music professionals and creatives across the UK, and for this special SXSW session, we’re bringing the community together under one roof. If you want to discover bold successful talent, meet culture shaping executives, or just be part of a movement creating real industry change, this is where you need to be. Pull up. Plug in. POWER UP! POWER UP is an ambitious, long-term initiative which supports Black music creators and industry professionals and executives, as well as addressing anti-Black racism and racial disparities in the music sector.
Co-founded by PRS Foundation and Ben Wynter and managed by PRS Foundation in partnership with YouTube Music, Beggars Group and the Black Music Coalition, the initiative brings several music industry partners and goes beyond solidarity, with new approaches which foster meaningful change.
Through a holistic POWER UP Participant Programme and the POWER UP Movement, breaks down barriers to create:
A fairer, more equitable music industry for Black creators and industry professionals Better representation in all sectors of the UK music industry To support innovative and exciting Black talent to create exceptional new music in all genres and at all career levels To amplify the work of Black creators and industry professionals to accelerate change Since launching in early 2021 POWER UP has powered up over a 200 Black music creators and industry professionals.
POWER UP was awarded an IMPALA Changemaker Award in 2022 and Music Week's Women In Music Award's DE&I Initiative Award in 2023.
