Not many MCs can boast a triple reload on a grime platform like Travs Presents at just 17 years old, but that’s exactly what N3 delivered during Kruz Leone’s showcase at Kindred in London at the end of last year. A standout from the barrage of new-gen MCs to burst onto the grime scene and push it forward recently, it’s part of what has been an incredibly fast rise for the Luton artist who only started spitting early last year. Since then, he has shelled on sets on Subtle Radio, Mode London and Voices Radio with his energetic style and flow, and featured as a cameo on the video for the new Ruff Sqwad album ‘Flee FM 2’ in March.
“I tend to go for a more punchy and hard-hitting approach with my lyrics,” he explains of the approach that has seen him regularly shut down the sets he jumps on. “Especially when I am nine times out of ten the youngest and least experienced MC in the room — these attributes help me command the attention of everyone and show that I’m not here to F around.” Currently in his final year of college studying Music Performance and Production at East London Arts & Music (ELAM), N3 says he is also hard at work in the studio, recording a run of releases to follow his massive Duppy collaboration, ‘Ting’, which landed in February.
