Akin Soul

Curated By

Raised on a diet of Marvin Gaye, Stevie, Quincy, Lalah & Donny Hathaway, Akin Soul is a blues and soul singer, multi-instrumentalist & songwriter from South East London built up a diverse catalogue of music from a young age, from Faith Evans to Pastor TL Barrett. Growing up singing in the pentecostal church, the spiritual and heartfelt melodies also played a part in his growth as a musician. Not forgetting his distinct style/image, both strong but effortless that can be explained as futuristic, ranging from a 70s/80s/90s to a 2000s slick. Last year the release of his latest single ‘Daylight’ showcased an evolution in his sound and a glimpse into future projects. The recipe, a fusion of Soul, Jazz, Rhythm & Blues and a golden ear. Collaborating with like minded producers, multi-instrumentalists, singers and engineers Akin has honed in on developing that timeless quality and unique sound that makes listening to his music such a special experience. The multi-instrumentalist started performing at the age of 12 and it's been as natural to him as breathing. In 2018 Akin founded the 12 piece band - ‘Akin Soul & The Soul Tribe’ who have gone on to perform across the UK at Glastonbury, We Out Here Festival, Brainchild Festival, Love Supreme, All Points East, The Great Escape and more. In the more recent years, Akin has expanded his showcases to the world and made his debut in Brooklyn & LA.
